Micro Oil Refinery

Ready to Mobilize

“Sakhaneftegaz” National Oil & Gas Company desired a crude oil micro-refinery to be located in the arctic environment of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and produce 400 barrels per day or 20,000 metric tons per year of arctic grade diesel fuel for local use.

The Sakha(Yakutia) Republic is a federal subject of Russia. It is the largest subnational governing body in the world by area at 1,190,555 square miles, with a population of almost one million, consisting mainly of ethnic Yakut’s and Russians.

Micro Oil Refinery

Sakhaneftegaz (SNG) needed their own refinery, they sat atop a large oil field but had to send their crude by barge many days downstream, to Lensk, to be refined and then be shipped back for local consumption. A refinery would quickly pay for itself just by saving the processing fees.

After review of other modular refinery manufacturers SNG purchased REDD’s custom designed “High Tech 20000”, a modular, skid-mounted, fully enclosed distillation unit designed to process the local crude and optimize diesel.

The “High Tech 20000” was designed, manufactured, assembled and tested in REDD’s fabrication shop in SLC.

After testing, units were disconnected and delivered to the customer, where they were installed on site by locals with observation and support from REDD’s highly experienced start-up and training experts.

REDD provided the project management, engineering, design, fabrication, shipping and erection and performed start-up and testing in Irkutsk, a remote village in Sakha Republic, eastern Russia.

The project was not only successful, but also made history as the first oil refinery to be operated in the Republic of Sakha.
