Salt Harvesting

Find out more and how REDD will be involved.

Of obvious importance in salt winning is the ability to effectively and efficiently harvest the salt without damaging the salt floor and curtailing future production.

Stockpiling of the harvested salt is another important and sometimes overlooked step.  Proper stockpiling, stockpile management, and material handling equipment and procedures can significantly impact the overall efficiency and profitability of solar salt harvesting.

Likewise, correct usage of bitterns ponds and wash pond management will make a tremendous impact on product quality as well as improvements on production quantities.

REDD Engineering in partnership with the Wilkins-REDD Salt Group has extensive experience in harvesting operations and stands ready to assist with equipment selection, the supply of small scale mud floor harvesters, or consultation on harvesting techniques and sequences.

While the Wilkins-REDD Salt Group does not manufacture salt harvesters, we have worked closely with manufacturers of these machines. In particular, Mr. Guy Wilkins has developed a specialized harvester for mud floor crystallizers. For technical and sales information regarding the mud-floor salt harvesters developed and sold by Guy Wilkins, please see his website SOLAR SALT HARVESTERS.
