Remote Controls in Remote Locations

Radar Towers

The military’s new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were being tested at the UTTR and needed a Flight Termination System (FTS) in case of emergency. System Planning Corporation (SPC) supplied the antennas for the FTS, and hired REDD to provide all aspects of management, design, excavation, fabrication, construction, erection and site cleanup.

This included the custom monopole towers, non-metallic antenna mounting structure, foundation, and cable path to support the antennas at three site locations within the UTTR (Cedar Mtn, Goshute & Trout Creek). REDD managed all fabrication and construction efforts and provided complete engineering and design drawings while conforming to the strict codes and practices contractors needed follow while on the remote military base.

Even with all of the stringent government constraints and hard to access remote locations, REDD finished the project on schedule and on budget.
